恭喜校友王彩英小姐(Margaret Wong Choi Ying) - Congratulations on became 2nd round winner in Financial Planner Awards 2008 and got prize at JW Marriott on last Thursday.

The Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong (IFPHK) and the South China Morning Post (SCMP) jointly organize the SCMP/IFPHK Financial Planner Awards 2008. The Award recognizes financial planners and university student who excel in their professional knowledge, demonstrate financial planning skills at the highest level and uphold best practices in financial planning in Hong Kong.

恭喜校友陳志坤(Patrick Chan)先生榮任香港地區的蘇丹副名譽領事 (the Deputy Honorary Consul of Sudan)以及香港地區的奧運馬術中心副經理(the Deputy Venue Accreditation Manager of the Olympic Equestrian Events) -- Below is a mail from Patrick :

I have been invited by Mr. Peter Lee, the Honorary Consul of Sudan in Hong Kong SAR & Macau SAR to be his Deputy early late 2007since I retired from the Hong Kong Immigration Department. My office is in Jordan and my office hours is 5 days in a week.

My daily duties are to answer enquiries on, dealing of the application of visas to Sudan from those required, the Hong Kong entry visas application handling from the Sudan diplomats and officialls as well as the handling of legal documents required certification/endlorsement by the Consul. the workload is not so heavy as in the Immigration and quite interesting as sometimes I have to accompany/represent my Consul in any ceremony when instructed. It is an honourable post with frequent liasion with the top management of the HKSAR Government.

It was by chance that I was invited two months ago by my retired Immigration colleagues to take the post as the ' Deputy Venue Accreditation Manager' in one of the five centers of the Olympic and contract was signed with the Equestrian Events (Hong Kong) of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad Company Limited for taking the above post for around three months as from 2nd July. Course was conducted to us and designated famous branded uniforms will be offereed besides of the rich travelling allowance, shuttle bus provision and meal provision etc.. Being the Deputy, I will be the second in charge of the venue to administer the office with the supervisors and the volunteers working with me throughout the period. We have to report one hour before and stay one hour late if there is event on that day. I think this job is also interesting and challenging as we have to perform shift duties and to obey orders though we are not disciplined group. Though I have taken leave from the Consulate for accepting this job, I have promised the Consul to return to the Consulate in case of emergency or to handle any matters required me by phone.

於今年5月15-19日到杭州出席奧運火炬傳送典禮。同時，亦恭喜他獲取「宏利2008年第一季最高業績經理大獎」，William 將於2008年8月22日至26日到北京出席奧運閉幕典禮盛會，我們等他拍攝精彩的相片回來與大家一起分享。

中聯辦教育部董翠娣部長-四川學校重建進度

Jun. 23(Mon) 下午3~4pm，中聯辦教育部董翠娣部長和姚漢強助理，接見了SCU黎拿嘉教授及中國高校畢業生香港教師會王國江老師。會上，大家共同研究討論MBA同學及香港教育人士參與四川學校重建事宜。

董翠娣部長詳細解釋了中國政府對此次賑災的最高指導計劃和行動，整理轉錄於下 :
1. 在國家的統籌規劃下，災區各縣市的救援及重建計畫，將分別由中國其它先進地區負起責任。
2. 政府預計9月時將全部臨時房屋建設完成，以安頓受災人民。
3. 部份山區小型學校將不再重建，而改為安排住在山區偏遠的學生，集中於大型及結構安全的學校來上課。
4. 興建大型的學校，預計需要2-3年才能建設好。由於地震造成很多廢墟，學校將在平地加強結構力量，做價達$1000/平方公尺。
5. 中聯辦教育部收到善心捐款至今累積達數百萬，將聯合香港特區政府教育局和各團體，合立興建一~二間具香港特色的大型學校。善心參與團體人士將留名於學校內。

預估香港特區政府教育局將於7-8月提出團體參與方案，屆時MBA同學們及香港其他善心人士可參與捐款、日後教學等支援活動。

MBA: UPGRADE YOURSELF

在人群裏我找到了特別突出的姚國祐先生，高高瘦瘦的他渾身上下透著一種睿智的味道。本以為他會是個不苟言笑的人，但他開口的第一句話就讓我感受到了他的熱情。那時候他還在吃午餐，用他的話說就是連接受採訪都要忙著吃，真是夠忙！姚先生有著港人所特有的一種氣質，連說話都顯得很特別，很幽默！
姚先生說參加這個課程是為了upgrade 他自己，讓自己升值。他還開玩笑說他選擇這個課程的原因之一是沖著那證書來的！我們就很好奇問明其中的來由，他說這個課程不僅很實用，很適合在職人士的要求，而且還能在一個課程裏拿到三個證書，是其他課程無法比擬的，因此他就報名參加了。不過他的言語中散發著一種說笑的意味。之後姚先生也強調說，其實還是由於課程本身設置很好，尤其適合在職人士想在管理方面有所提升的要求。課程都安排在週末，正是他們休息的日子。而其他一些課程會把上課時間定在晚上，這很不科學。在忙碌了一整天後還去上課讓很多人吃不消，學習效果也必然不好。不過穿梭於事業、學業、家庭中，姚先生還是覺得有些忙，“你看，接受採訪還只能安排在午餐時間，真的很忙啊！”談話中我深深感受到了他的humor 和passion，氛圍也一直輕鬆開放。
“參加這個課程之後，交際面也有了一定的拓寬，認識了不少朋友，這是一個無形的收入，會讓人受益不少！而且學習到的知識有不少已經在工作中得到了應用，這是出乎我意料的！”
除此之外，姚先生還給了執教的教授們很高的評價，認為他們能充分考慮他們的情況，採用最適合他們的授課方式，讓課程內容易於理解和接受。
在結束採訪之前，姚先生再次向有意在管理方面進行相關進修的社會在職人員極力推薦這個課程，相信這個課程不會讓新學員們失望！因為這是為你們量身打造的！

剛剛當爸爸的胡志榮（Teddy Woo）先生在今天的畢業典禮上尤其顯得高興，雙喜臨門，難免喜不自禁！在一旁看著Teddy同家人合影時的幸福表情，我實在不忍打破那和諧的畫面。看到我們稍微站著等了一會兒，Teddy 就馬上跑過來，微笑地說著抱歉，讓人覺得很親切。
Teddy 是一個生意人，也正是因為聖杰文和華工合辦的這個課程的上課地點正是同他有生意往來的一個公司的辦公地點離得很近，他才知道了這個課程。之後做了一定瞭解，Teddy 看中了這個課程時間安排靈活，有彈性，且課程內容正是他想要有更深入瞭解的。於是在離開了校園七八年後，Teddy 再次坐在了久違的課室裏，聽教授們講課。但是也就因為好久沒有這麼專心地學習了，Teddy 在課程開始是感到了學習的吃力。幸運的是，這兒的老師們耐心執教，講課方式科學，知識也變得易懂了。加上接觸了一定時間，Teddy 迅速進入狀態，原先覺得有些難度的課程基本上都能接受了！
當問及最欣賞的課程及教授時，Teddy 十分讚賞祁明院長，便也最喜歡他的電子商務課程了。Teddy說：“祁院長講課很獨到，語言總是那麼精闢。他課上講的話並不多，但可謂字字珠璣！”
Teddy 還說，現在既要顧及生意上的事，還要照顧家庭，幸虧這個課程花費時間不會很多，時間跨度也較小，讓他不至於特別忙。這都得感謝開辦課程的聖杰文和華工，既滿足了他進修的意願，也不會佔用太多時間。
最後，Teddy 還分享了他一點經驗，他覺得參加這個課程給了他很多，課程本身可以說給了其中的一半，還有一半是和同學建立起來的友誼。因為所有的同學都是工作人士，與他們結交也給了自己更多發展生意的機會。所以對於這個課程Teddy十分滿意，也相信這些知識將是他終身受益。
